Danish PM says that Greenland is not for sale
Mette Frederiksen, Danish PM says that Greenland is not for sale, following remarks by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that President Donald Trump’s interest in acquiring the island was “not a joke.”

Frederiksen emphasized that Greenland remains a part of Denmark’s territory and will not be sold. She made the statement ahead of an informal EU leaders’ meeting in Brussels.
U.S. Proposal and Potential Pressure
Trump has expressed a desire to make Greenland a part of the United States and has not ruled out using military or economic influence to persuade Denmark to transfer control of the island.
Arctic Security and Defense Concerns
Frederiksen acknowledged the growing importance of the Arctic region for security and defense. She indicated a willingness to collaborate on regional security, stating, “If this is about securing our part of the world, we can find a way forward.”
