Potential Early Accession

Ukraine may join the European Union before 2030 if it continues its current pace of reforms, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Speaking in Kyiv, she acknowledged Ukraine’s commitment to the process and suggested that an earlier accession could be possible.

“I really appreciate the political will that is there. I would even say Ukraine’s merit-based process, if they continue at that speed and at that quality, perhaps they could be earlier than 2030,” she stated.

EU Membership as a Security Guarantee

European Council President Antonio Costa highlighted the strategic importance of Ukraine’s EU membership. He described accession as the most crucial security guarantee for the country’s future.

Challenges Ahead

Despite Ukraine’s progress, challenges remain. The country must continue implementing judicial, economic, and anti-corruption reforms while navigating the complexities of EU negotiations and the ongoing war.
