Production Site for the B10 Electric Crossover

Stellantis and its Chinese partner Leapmotor are planning a $200 million investment in a factory in Zaragoza, Spain. The site is expected to produce the B10 electric crossover for the European market, with mass production set to begin in the first quarter of 2026.

Alternative Locations Considered

The companies initially explored several European locations, including Stellantis factories in Germany and Slovakia. Poland was originally considered, but plans were scrapped due to China’s concerns over European tariffs on Chinese-made EVs.

Government Incentives and Supplier Agreements

To qualify for the highest level of government subsidies, Stellantis and Leapmotor are working to increase local component procurement from Spanish suppliers. Spain’s low labor costs and incentives for clean energy investments have already attracted major battery manufacturers, including CATL and AESC.

Leapmotor’s Expansion Strategy

The B10 is the first in Leapmotor’s B-series of EVs designed for international markets. Stellantis has positioned the model as a key part of its strategy to offer high-tech, affordable EVs outside China.

Final Decision Pending

While the investment plan is progressing, a final decision has not yet been made. Stellantis declined to comment, and Leapmotor has not responded to requests for further details.
