GM Boosts Light-Duty Truck Production in Indiana
Expansion at Fort Wayne Assembly Plant
General Motors is increasing production of light-duty trucks at its Fort Wayne, Indiana, assembly plant, according to a company announcement.
Shift in Response to Tariffs
The decision follows the introduction of 25% tariffs on auto imports. GM currently produces light-duty trucks in Mexico and Canada, and the increase in U.S. production may help offset potential tariff costs.
Overtime and Workforce Expansion
To meet production demands, the company is considering adding overtime shifts, according to Plant Director Dennys Pimenta. Several hundred temporary workers are expected to be hired as part of the expansion.
