“Drake Bell Revealed as Ice King on The Masked Singer: Costume Love, Confetti Chaos, and Panelist Guesses”

By Garry

Season 12 of “The Masked Singer” continued Wednesday night on Fox, with the Group C contestants competing on “Miley Cyrus Night.” Following the studio audience vote, Ice King became the group’s second singer eliminated (and the eighth overall this season), revealing actor and musician Drake Bell.

When Bell first set eyes on his frozen blue Ice King costume, his immediate reaction was, “I loved it!” As he tells Gold Derby, “I thought it was incredible. I loved the concept and the colors. I loved that it was all one color, but different tones. And of course, the mustache got me.

The entertainer readily admits that he could “see pretty well” out of the mask, but he didn’t realize just how much fake snow there was flying around him on the stage until later on. He recalls the makeup artists telling him, “This is the biggest confetti explosion we’ve ever had on the show!”

Panelists Robin ThickeKen JeongJenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and Rita Ora guessed the Ice King was  DiploJoe JonasMrBeastShia LaBeouf, and James Franco. “First of all, I was thinking, ‘Awesome, they are not even close,’” Bell chuckles. However, he declares that “It made me feel good” to be compared to Jonas because he’s “a great singer” and “he’s awesome.”

Eventually, McCarthy-Wahlberg guessed Bell’s name, and he suspects it was because he “shared a vulnerable part” of his life from earlier in the year. “She keeps her finger on the pulse of pop culture, and I think that was kind of the big giveaway,” he says. “But I was shocked. I mean, who’s gonna guess me? Like, there’s no way. Do they even know who I am? It’s so funny because you see the panelists and you’re fans of them … and there’s no way they even know who I am.” He adds, “It was a bummer they guessed me, but it was cool they guessed me.”

Also in our exclusive video interview, Drake Bell reflects on his song choices of “Tonight Tonight” for “Who Are You Fest” and “Midnight Sky” for “Miley Cyrus Night,” and he teases what his “Peanuts”-inspired song might have been if he’d made it to the following week’s Thanksgiving episode of “The Masked Singer.”
