Church services at The Potter’s House of Dallas came to an abrupt halt on Sunday when Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a health issue mid-sermon.
The renowned pastor and motivational speaker had been sharing his love for preaching moments before the incident. A video capturing the medical emergency quickly circulated on social media.
“I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching,” Jakes, 67, told the congregation. “I miss you.”
He went on to describe the mutual encouragement he feels through preaching, saying, “Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody, and you thought it was going to encourage them, and they encourage you? That’s what preaching is like. You think you’re giving out something, you’re getting back more than you gave.”

Shortly after quoting Psalm 19:14, Jakes fell silent. “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace,” he said.
Moments later, the pastor appeared to experience spasms while seated, staring ahead. Congregants rushed to assist him as another speaker urged the audience to pray.
Later that day, an update was shared via the preacher’s X account:
