A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in Assault Case
Verdict and Reaction
A Los Angeles jury found rapper A$AP Rocky not guilty of two felony counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon. The charges stemmed from a 2021 altercation with another hip-hop artist in Hollywood.
Following the verdict, Rocky leaped into the audience, hugging supporters as cheers filled the courtroom. Addressing the jury, he said, “Thank y’all for saving my life.”
Incident Details
Rocky was accused of pointing a handgun at former friend Terell Ephron during an argument and firing twice in his direction in a second confrontation on November 6, 2021. Ephron claimed he suffered a minor injury when a bullet grazed his knuckles.
Defense Argument
Rocky’s attorneys argued that the gun was a prop used in a music video and only fired blanks. They also contended that Ephron was the aggressor in the situation.
Post-Trial Statement
Outside the courthouse, Rocky expressed gratitude, saying, “We want to thank God first. This is crazy right now.” Standing with his partner Rihanna and his attorney, he added, “I’m thankful and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y’all.”
Courtroom Support
Rihanna attended the trial several times and brought their two sons, RZA and Riot, to the courtroom during closing arguments.
Civil Lawsuit Pending
Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, has filed a civil lawsuit against Rocky. The outcome of that case remains unresolved.
Prosecutor’s Response
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman acknowledged the jury’s decision, stating, “Our office remains committed to seeking accountability for those who break the law, no matter their status or influence.”
